TWO sisters, aged 11 and eight, have raised over £1,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care with a string of fundraising ventures.

Last Friday Abbie and Courtney Weston completed a swimathon at Ripley Leisure Centre. Abbie, 11, swam 2.5kms in one hour and 20 minutes and Courtney swam 2,161 metres, coming in three minutes behind her big sister. The big-hearted pair have also raised cash with cake and sweet sales at their school, and at meetings of the Brownies and Scouts in Swanwick.

Proud mum Lynne said: “They thought it was a worthwhile cause because it caters for families as well as people with a terminal illness. And unfortunately lots of people are affected by it.”
