Puppy abandoned at garage

A puppy has been found abandoned at a garage by a workman.

The puppy, who is thought to be less than seven weeks old, was found by someone working at a garage in Central Drive, Shirebrook.

The person who called the RSPCA said the puppy was lethargic and shaking. He had discharge around his eyes and a bad skin condition.

RSPCA inspector Keith Ellis, who collected the puppy, said he was covered in mange: “Not just a little bit of mange but covered in it.

“The vet did a skin scrape and you could see hundreds of mites in that first sample. Very often vets do that and cannot actually see any mites with the naked eye but this poor pup was infested and must have been suffering terrible irritation.

“We would like help in finding the person who abandoned this puppy. We believe he is a lurcher-type animal and too young to be separated from his mother.”

Anyone who has information about the puppy can call our confidential information line on 0300 123 8018.
