Ripley Life Thru the Lens 2012 - Jim Frost

The deadline for our first Life Thru the Lens competition has now passed and the task of chosing the winners is about to start.

The inaugural Ripley and Heanor News bid to find the towns’ best amateur snapper has been a great success , with more than 100 entries flooding in since we launched the contest in spring.

Now it is over to the judging panel, who will decide on a shortlist of the top pictures.

They will be looking for the snaps that best capture the essence of the Ripley and Heanor locality – whether that be through impressive pictures of famous landmarks, shots of some of our towns’ most impressive vistas, or images of local flora and fauna.

An award ceremony is set for the autumn time, in which the winners and runners up will receive thier prizes.

A top digital camera is on offer for the ultimate winner, thanks to our sponsors Specsavers of Belper.

News Editor Julie Crouch, said: We could not have asked for a better response to Life Thru the Lens. To say the competition has been a success is an understatement – you have been fantastic. Picking a winner is certainly going to be tough as the standard is high.”
