Last chance to honour heroes

Time is running out to nominate your local community heroes in our 2013 New Year’s Honours awards .

Plenty of you have written, phoned and emailed in your suggestions for the area’s top fundraisers, charitable champions and humble heroes – so they can be rewarded for their efforts.

But there is still another week to go until the deadline of February 1.

So we are hoping you will do the same by getting in touch with the paper and suggesting the person you would like to see rewarded and the reasons why.

News editor Julie Crouch said: “The nominations have been coming in, but we know there are many more deserving people out there. Make sure you nominate them – don’t leave it to someone else. It’s so easy and quick to nominate too.”

Last year the News rewarded nine community champions at a ceremony at the Field Terrace Community Centre in Ripley.

To nominate you can email us or call with your nominations and your reason for suggesting them. Be sure to include the person’s name and contact details, including a phone number - and include your own contact details too.
