Donate your jam jar cash

Our Jubilee Jam Jar appeal to plant commemorative trees to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee now stands at nearly £500.

The total even includes£88 donated to our campaign by the 1st Ripley Girl Guides.

The Jam Jar Appeal has seen the News team up with Amber Valley Borough Council and we aim to plant a fitting new tree in Ripley, Heanor and hopefully Alfreton, along with commemorative plaques to mark the 60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

We have been asking you to donate the spare pennies you have stored in jam jars and pots in your homes and the likes and you have certainly been doing that - smashing our target of £300.

But the more we raise, the more trees we can plant - so let’s keep the ball rolling .

Editor Julie Crouch said: “I am thrilled we are raising so much money – well done to you all. But keep it up as we want to really push the boat out.”

Venues being considered by Amber Valley Borough Council are Heanor Memorial Park, Crossley Park in Ripley and hopefully Alfreton Park in Alfreton.

You can drop off your pennies at the officeat 27 Grosvenor Road, Ripley.
