SELSTON students performed in a science-themed theatrical show, called Fusion Man and the Machine, which featured dance and music and explored the mechanics of body parts and chemical elements.

The Selston troupe danced as chlorine elements in a production that involved more than 600 singers, dancers and scientists from dance groups and schools across the county. The students choreographed the dance, created the costumes and their own make-up.

Students also raised £267 with a sponsored readathon. The money will go to charities like Clic Sargent and the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children’s Charity.

And, during the Easter holidays, 37 students, accompanied by the science staff, enjoyed three days in the capital where they visited the Royal Observatory Greenwich and The Natural History and Science Museums, as well as a cruise on the Thames and shopping in Covent Garden. Sam Harwood, of Year 9, said: “The highlights were - going to loads of well-known places, the Science Museum, the restaurants we went to and Gary the guide who was amazing.

“Everyone should go and see the sights!”
