Bonfire night cash split among helpers

The proceeds of a Bonfire Night collection were distributed by Codnor Parish Council.

Chairman George Parkes presented cheques for £207.50 each to Third Codnor Scout Group, Derbyshire Special Constabulary, Beauchief Explorer Scouts and St Johns Ambulance Services at the February 4 meeting.

The council decided to split the £830 collected at the end of the Community Bonfire last November to recognise the contribution made by each group towards the event, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Councillor Parkes said: “We greatly value all the help and support that these groups provide to make such a successful evening for everyone.”
