Alfreton faces bid to build 149 homes

A planning application to build nearly 150 homes on land off Eachwell Lane in Alfreton has been submitted.

The proposed development is called Damstead Park and the application, by Derby-based Planning Design Practice Ltd, says nearby Alfreton Park, Watchorn and Oakerthorpe Brook have “the potential to influence the design in a positive manner” so the estate could be designed along the lines of a park, a crescent or a boulevard.

Outline planning application by Mrs J Olive and Ms D Haigh is sought for up to 149 dwellings, public open space and wildlife areas and the scheme is a departure from the Development Plan.

A decision is anticipated on June 4 under Amber Valley council’s delegated powers.
