A re-scheduled rally drew hundreds to Denby
The Belper Steam and Vintage Event, which had been re-scheduled due to torrential weather, drew hundreds to Denby at the weekend.
Organisers had to battle to put together a programme after exhibitors, including a Hurricane flypast, a falconry display and a brass band cancelled when the event was put off due to poor weather in June.
However, new attractions including showmans’ engines, a gun dog display and an unexploded bomb skit helped ensure a fun-packed time.
Chairman of the rally, Terry Mellor, said: “We lost some exhibitors but gained some that went down really well and want to come again.
“We had really good gates , thankfully the weather was with us this time.”
The rally was founded in 1989 and over the years has showcased a vast array of vintage attractions including an ‘Old Tyme’ fairground, which featured rides like the Gallopers, Helter Smelter, the Wall of Death, the Cake Walk and Tube Shooter.
The rally has also displayed all sorts of commercial vehicles, from carriers to breakdown lorries, heavy haulage vehicles, as well as military vehicles ranging from ambulances to tanks and jeeps to cargo trucks, all alongside vintage motorcycles and cars.
