fight night: September 28, 1962 the big question at Heanor Town Hall when Paramount Promotions of Kirkby-in-Ashfield staged an ‘international wrestling’ event was “Where were all the fans?” according to the show’s promoters. Organiser Mr Ball, of Kirkby, vowed never to bring another show to Heanor. Mr Ball continued: “The event may have made an overall loss, but the dedicated 50 wrestling fans were certainly entertained by the likes of Spanish grappler Jose Santos and ‘Gipsy’ Joe Savoldi.
