Activities in Belper, Ripley and Heanor
A RANGE of activities will take place in Ripley on Friday
December 1 to mark the switch on of the town's Christmas lights.
Mayor Charles Cutting will flick the switch at 6.30pm and this will be followed by a carol service led by the clergy of Ripley with Ashover Band in the Market Place.
Late night shopping will be available with a children's play area and activities at All Saints church.
Fair rides, live music, stilt
walkers, fire eaters and other
seasonal entertainment will be
scattered around the town
centre.
Meanwhile Heanor and Loscoe Town Council are holding their Christmas light switch-on and charity event at Heanor
Market Place on Monday
December 4 from 5pm.
Visitors will be treated to stalls, fair rides, late night shopping and entertainment from the Pinxton puppets, organ grinder and carol singers.
The lights will be switched on at 6pm by the Mayor Paul Jones and after a performance by the Heanor Operatic Society and the Ilkeston brass band there will be a firework display from 8.15pm.
In the run up to Christmas the Heage Band will be performing in Ripley town centre on December 9 and 16 and the Christmas
market will be held on December 22 and 23.
Belper's Christmas lights switch on is set to take place on Market Place at 6pm on Friday, December, 1. Santa is also set to make an appearance.
