A STEAM engine that was once known throughout Amber Valley when it worked the lines at the Shipley Coppice Colliery has been found in Liverpool by four men keen to recreate an old family photograph.
Stuart Gerrard and three former employees of the old Shipley Colliery journeyed to Merseyside to see Locomotive No. 5 Cecil Raikes awaiting refurbishment at the National Museum's Liverpool Land Transport Store after researching the train's whereabouts over the internet.

For Stuart, now of Spondon, but formerly of Shipley, the mission was to have his picture taken on the front of the engine in the same pose as his great uncle Tom Gerrard 80 years previous when he worked as a loco fitter at Woodside.

For the full feature see this week's Ripley and Heanor News, out now.
