THE festivities at Christmas will inevitably take their toll on the environment with the extra food packaging – tins, glass jars and bottles – along with cardboard, wrapping paper and Christmas cards.
This rubbish can all be picked up by Amber Valley Borough Council's kerb-side recycling scheme. Just leave the waste in the boxes or bags provided – but make sure you give food packaging a rinse first.

Lead member for clean green and safer at the borough council, Cllr Jack Brown, said: "People can have two extra bags of rubbish after Christmas but wherever people can recycle, it all helps. It doesn't go to landfill and helps the environment so I would encourage people to recycle as much as possible."
